The company, formerly Forcht Broadcasting, began in 1981 when owner and founder Terry Forchtpurchased WAIN 1270 AM in Columbia Kentucky, under subsidiary Key Broadcasting. Key Broadcasting began expanding across small-market radio in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. In 2008, Key Broadcasting was rebranded to Forcht Broadcasting.
